From the grandson, Jarrid: My grandfather passed away. I am thankful I was able to spend a lot of time with him last night and this morning. When I sat there, I started to really think of all the things he had done. Not only did he have three wonderful children and numerous grandchildren with a huge heart for animals, but he gave a lot to our society when he could have chosen different career paths. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. We have albums of pictures he took not only of the base, but the life in Korea which really is amazing to look at. In addition, he helped during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Galena, Alaska for a bit which I thought was really cool. When he settled down with the family, he taught at Lake Hamilton, particularly history, and he loved assisting and teaching special education for those that unfortunately are born with disabilities. When school was done for the day, he drove kids home in a school bus ensuring their safety home. Not long after he was a teacher, he worked in the United States Army Corps of Engineers protecting our beautiful National and State Parks. He touched a lot of lives and helped a lot of people. I'm sure he wasn't a perfect man, but with all those accomplishments under his belt, it inspires me to be a better person. We will miss you.
