Obituary for Leroy A. Jonsson

Leroy Jonsson, 94, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away September 4, 2018. He was born February 1, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Martha Jonsson.

Leroy was a patriotic, decorated WWII veteran. He was in the 80th division 317th infantry U.S. Army. He earned the European theater ribbon with 4 bronze battle stars, World War II victory medal, 3 overseas service bars, American Campaign medal and a Good conduct medal.

Leroy worked for Commerce Clearing House in Chicago. He retired in 1987 after 27 years of service.

Leroy was an avid golfer for many years. Among the highlights, Lee won a Green Jacket at a tournament at Pinehurst Resort in NC in 1977 and scored a hole-in-one on the Magellan Course in Hot Springs Village in 2004.

He found great joy in caring for their three Manchester Terriers, Gotcha, Chrissy and Sassy.
Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Jonsson and by his wife Marjorie Stirling Jonsson. Leroy and Marjorie were married in 1949 and they experienced over 67 years of happiness together. He is survived by his nieces and nephews and their respective children.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the chapel of Mt. Carmel Community in Hot Springs Village.
