Obituary for Leona Manchen Stark

Leona Manchen Stark, 101, passed away January 4, 2019. She was born on March 21, 1917 in Shiner, Texas, to Walter and Emma Manchen. Leona was predeceased by her parents, her husband of over 50 years Jesse Stark, and daughter Kay Craft. She is survived by her brother David Manchen, grandson Michael Grogan, his wife April, great-grandson Michael Grogan VI, and son-in-law Roger Craft.

Leona was born in Shiner, Texas, graduating from the High School in 1934 where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. She married Jesse in 1939 and worked as a bookkeeper at Randolph Field where he was stationed during World War II. They lived most of their years in Victoria, Texas where she worked for the Girl Scouts, Memory Gardens, and provided significant volunteer work for Citizens Medical Center and many city events. They moved to Hot Springs Village in 1989. She loved to travel with her husband and Kay and Roger and was a dedicated Houston Astros fan.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 pm Friday, January 18th at the Chapel of Good Samaritan Campus, 121 Cortez Road in Hot Springs Village.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Village Bible Church.
