Obituary for Thomas G. Miller

Thomas G. Miller, 86, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away April 2, 2018. He was born April 10, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa to Robert and Katherine "Corrine" (Knapp) Miller. Thomas was a member of The Catholic Church of St John the Baptist.

He served in the US Army in Korea and upon his honorary discharge in 1953, began his career with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. During the building of the Majestic Hotel Lanai Suites, he and his coworker, Doyle McGrew, performed CPR and saved the life of a hotel guest who was drowning in the swimming pool.

Thomas added joy and laughter to the parades in Hot Springs, Little Rock, and at Bean fest in Mt. View with his decorated Senior Scooter that he made from old toilets & lawn mowers. One of his biggest thrills was when he was asked to let Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs ride on his toilet trailer.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Rose Terry Miller, whom he was devoted to during her 15+ year battle with early onset Alzheimer's Disease; also by a son, Michael Miller; grandson, John Richard Miller; son-in-law, Jon Mazander; and granddaughter by heart, Candace Humphreys.

He is survived by his son, Gregory (Hildegard) of Germany; daughters, Teresa Miller and Tammy Miller Buttrum of Hot Springs; daughter-in-law, Kim Miller of California; grandchildren, Michael Miller and Glenn (Vandhy) Miller of Texas, Chris (Daniela) Mazander of Cincinnati Ohio, Benita (Chris) Pearce of Jessieville, and Zac Buttrum of Hot Springs; 11 great-grandchildren, Samarian, Gage & Cyrus of Texas, Naomi, Rebekah, Hannah, Isabella, and Abigail of Ohio, Zanlynn, Zander, and Olyvia Zanna of Jessieville; also Judy and Ken Humphreys, who he loved as his own; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Michael Johns. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Y.C. officiating and Father James West and Father George Sanders as concelebrants.
