Obituary for Doris Irene Williams

Doris Irene Williams, nee Johnson, went to sleep in death on November 8, 2017 to await the resurrection. She was born on Feburary 7, 1931, at Greenwood, SC to Lois (Snelling) and O.B. Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Williams, her parents, two brothers, Charles Johnson and Paul Johnson, her daughter, Linda Meehan, a step-daughter, Judy Grady and a step-grandson, James Jackson, Jr.

She is survived by one brother, Albert (Aida) Johnson, her son Richard (Karen) Jackson, two step-daughters, Linda (Mike) Haynie and Glenece Walker, two step-sons, James (Lisa) Jackson and James (Chomson) Williams, seven grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Doris moved to Arkansas in 1960 and to Hot Springs in 1988. Being a military wife and moving often, she worked at many different jobs. She has been a waitress, short-order cook, bookkeeper and office manager, the last being a convenience store manager for B & B Oil Co. At one time she and her husband owned and operated a motel in North Little Rock and a cattle ranch in Scotland, AR. In her younger years she was an avid square dancer. She enjoyed being with friends and family and always looked forward to the next time.

Doris was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4546. She was also a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she drew close to Jesus, her Savior and to God.

Doris will be laid to rest, with her husband, at the North Little Rock Veteran's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4546 or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation will be appreciated..
