Obituary for Sylvia Trust Martin Wade

Sylvia Odelsie Trust was born on May 14, 1949 in Torrance, California to Helen and Dale Trust. She was youngest of their three children and graduated from Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California. Helen re-married Jim Donahue when Sylvia was about six years of age and he raised her as his own until his death in August, 2018. Sylvia became a member of the Latter Day Saints church at a very early age and was grateful for her Mormon religion throughout her life.

Sylvia married Dudie Martin right out of high school and had two sons, James and Dennis. The family eventually moved to Placerville, California where Sylvia began teaching pre-school and took classes towards her Associate degree. She worked for Montessori Pre School and was devoted to the children she taught. The family survived a devastating fire that destroyed their home and all their belongings, and Sylvia managed to keep the family together with the help of the church and neighbors.

In 1994 she married Robert Wade and moved to Hot Springs, AR. She started teaching pre-school again while attending National Park Community College, then received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Henderson College in 1997. She worked part-time at Walmart and taught school until her disability in 2003.

Sylvia dearly loved the children she taught, her precious dog Snowbear, all arts and crafts but especially making bead jewelry, and coloring in color books. She was a gifted author and wrote many poems and short stories, and drafted art work to accompany some of the stories she wrote.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Helen and Jim Donahue, her brother Mel Trust and her husband Robert Wade. She leaves behind sons James and Dennis Martin, step-daughter and friend Aloha, grandchildren, Jordan, Christian, and Olivia Martin and great-grandchildren Lucien, Kassidy, Harper, Truman, Jordan, Joel, Kaylynn and Amiyah and Alexander, sister Linda Justice, nephew Scott his wife Casey and son Zack, and nephews Michael and Mel Trust and their families.

Sylvia’s happy disposition in spite of her difficulties, her humor, love of animals, her many interests and her love of family and friends will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
