Obituary for Ruth Ann Brumley

Ruth Ann (Vaughan) Brumley died on Sunday, September 16, 2018. A resident of Bryant, AR,
she was surrounded by loving family at her home and passed gently while holding her daughter Cyndy’s hand. Ruth was born to parents Oscar Eugene Vaughan and Ruby (Bowman) Vaughan in Bowman, Arkansas on July 2, 1933.

She married Gerald Lee Brumley, and they had one daughter, Cynthia Dianne. A graduate of Humes High School in Memphis TN, Ruth worked in several clerical jobs, and as a small business owner also. As a wife and mother she found her purpose, and the Brumleys lived in many places as Gerald advanced in the Federal Aviation Administration. They retired to Arkansas from his last posting in Anchorage, Alaska.

She was predeceased by her parents, OE and Ruby Vaughan, husband Gerald L. Brumley and her brothers, Gerald Vaughan and Phillip Vaughan.

She leaves behind a younger brother, James, a sister, Shirley Achenbach, her daughter, Cynthia Dilday, and a beloved son-in-law, Laurence Dilday. Ruth had many friends, but particularly Bobbi (Robert) McCain, Ruth (Royce) Burks, and Ellen Thrash. She will be missed.

The family extends special thanks to Southern Trace Rehabilitation and Arkansas Hospice, who provided loving care in her last weeks.

A service of remembrance will be held at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, AR, on September 22, 2018 at 2 PM, with a coffee gathering after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Arkansas Hospice.
