“Jim” Donahue was born on July 22, 1932 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Carl Donahue and Rose Tenipor Donahue. He was fourth of five children and the youngest boy.
Jim worked as a signal repairman for the Union Pacific Railroad, and then served two years of active duty in the Army. He worked for Martin Brothers Construction Company in Los Angeles, California for over thirty years and retired to Arkansas twenty six years ago.
He was married to Helen (Denney) Donahue for fifty six years prior to her death. Helen had three children Linda, Mel and Sylvia, who he raised as his own and they had seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Jim and Helen had a home on three acres in Fountain Lake where they enjoyed watching the birds and the deer roam. After Helen’s death Jim moved to Country Club Village where he was enjoying his apartment and the prepared meals.
Jim’s hobby was woodworking and he enjoyed traveling, playing cards and working puzzles. He had several pets over the years including his pet turtle of fifty seven years. He was a hardworking and honest man who led a full life and was loved by his family and friends and he will be missed very much.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
