Obituary for Gordon Mack Graves

On Thursday, December 20, 2018, Gordon Mack Graves, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 73. Gordon was born June 3, 1945 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Mack and Ruby Graves. Gordon was a proud graduate of Fountain Lake High School, Class of 1963. Upon graduation, Gordon attended Henderson State University, for 4 years, in pursuit of a degree in Biology. He was married to his best friend and love of his life, Willa Dean “Deanie” Nichols Graves for 54 years. Together they shared a life of love, laughter, and family while raising two amazing sons.

Preceded in death by his first born son Brent and sister, Evelyn Brown, Gordon is survived by his wife Deanie, his two sons, Brett (Beth) Graves of Hot Springs and Brannan (Michelle) Graves of Atlanta, Georgia, and four adored grandchildren, Evan, Erin, Bryson, and Presley. Gordon is also survived by his brother Mearl (Lori) Graves, sister Dianne Skinner, sister Cyndi (Greg) Ball all of Hot Springs, and numerous, beloved nieces and nephews.

Gordon, along with his wife, Deanie, founded and operated All-Star Awards in downtown Hot Springs for seventeen years. He was a skilled craftsman, a gardener, and problem solver for the entire family. Gordon was of protestant faith and was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and was happiest when he was spending time on Lake Ouachita with his family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Murders, Greg Ball, Jack Murders, Aaron Campbell, Phil Montgomery, Dylan Campbell, Blake Campbell, Evan Graves, and Bryson Graves. Honorary pallbearers are the Mike Kolasch family, the Cliff Ledbetter family, Roger and Jane Needham, Martha McDaniel, and the Fountain Lake High School Class of 1963.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire CHI St. Vincent staff, DaVita Dialysis, Dr. Robert McCrary, Dr. Timothy Webb and Arkansas Hospice for their wonderful care of our extraordinary Gordon.

Pleasant (Mountain Valley) Cemetery.
