Bobby “Bob” D. Ward, 85, of Hot Springs Village, AR, lost his 8 year battle with cancer December 12, 2018. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family. His service will be held Sunday, December 16, at 2:00pm at Caruth Village Funeral Home: 4623 North Highway 7, Hot Springs Village, AR, 71909.

Bob was born October 7, 1933 in Greenway, AR, as the 7th of 10 children to Hazel and Charlie Ward. Bob was voted basketball team Captain for the 1st All Star State Championship while at Greenway High School, where he then graduated in 1952. He continued his education at Arkansas State University (ASU) on a basketball scholarship. While playing for the then ASU Indians, Bob was the only freshman to start every game. In fact, during his senior year playing for ASU he was named MVP. While attending college, he was drafted into the Army where he served as a cook from 1954-1956. After completing his service, Bob returned to ASU, earned back his basketball scholarship, and graduated in 1959. He then used his education to enjoy a great career in finance. After retiring from City Finance Corporation of Memphis, TN, he moved to Piggott, AR to enjoy retirement later relocating to Hot Springs Village (HSV) in 2002 where he could play golf regularly, a sport he cherished. He enjoyed golfing, and made many, many friends over the years playing the game he so loved.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hazel, along with five sisters and one brother: Opal Hounihan, Rita Foster, Dot Pipkins, Viola Jones, Anita Beveridge, and Bill Ward. He is survived by his Soulmate: Janet Norris of HSV, AR. Bob is also survived by brothers Bud Ward of Heber Springs, Sam Ward and wife Mary of Malden, MO, and sister Sandra Davis and husband Larry of Paragould, AR.
