Life Legacy
Betty Jones, of Hot Springs died June 7, 2011. She was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on January 2, 1919. Betty married Virgil Jones in 1940 and raised her family in Wisconsin before retiring to Hot Springs Village in 1976.
In 2010 she moved to Country Club Village. She taught elementary school in both Wisconsin and Arkansas, where she developed a program for gifted and talented students. Betty loved music and played the organ until her death. She was a lifelong bridge player and also enjoyed writing poetry. She treasured many, many friendships through the years. Betty and Virgil were part of the Firehouse Gang, charter members of the Village United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Hess, of Lancaster, Ohio; son Jeffrey Jones and his wife, Patricia, of Los Cruces, New Mexico; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and her sister, Polly.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 16, at Village United Methodist Church.
