Obituary for Ronnie Heird

Hi folks. My name is Ronald “Ronnie” Dale Heird. I was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on April 19, 1946. I attended Dollarway High School and graduated in 1964. There my teachers taught me morals and guidance. After attending college for two years I married my high school sweetheart on July 3, 1965, after dating for four years. This was the #1 and best thing of my life.

Sherry and I had two children, Rhonda Ann Graham (Zack) and Ronald “Ron” Dale Heird II. They were the #2 best things in my life. We have three grandchildren, Kaylee, Zane Gunner, and Jacob. We have one great-grandchild, Rowan. I have two sisters, Monica O’Briant and Beck Drake, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. I have four best friends and many more friends.

I was preceded in death by my father and step-mother, Alpha “Pete” Ray and Betty Jean Heird, and my mother and step-father, Carrie Marie and Cecil Adams.

I worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad in Pine Bluff. We then moved to Royal in 1994. Sherry and I promoted and produced bass tournaments, had a hunting and fishing TV show, and published an outdoors magazine. Many people in Pine Bluff asked me how I liked living in Royal. I would tell them that I had moved one step from heaven. On November 25, 2017, I took that step. I’m not going to say “Goodbye”, but I’m going to say “See you later.”

Sherry, I love you more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow.

-Ronnie
