Obituary for Richard Paul Stephens

Richard Paul Stephens, age 30, left this world on April 30, 2018 to join his immediate family – father, Johnnie Ray Stephens, mother Sondra Stephens and brother Robert Daniel Stephens – all of whom left us too soon.

Richard was born on July 31, 1987 in Houston TX and moved to Hot Springs as a child. Other than a short period of time that he resided in Texas, he remained in Hot Springs for the remainder of his life.

Richard is survived by the light of his life, his daughter Abagail Stephens, his wife Allyssa Stephens, uncle and aunt Danny and Allison Stephens, uncle Marshall Jenkins, uncle Charles Jenkins, cousin Jeff Hyland and wife Jessica, Abagail’s mother Jennifer Umbel, surrogate parents, Gary and Melissa Lax and a host of friends. Richard’s life was one of perseverance, overcoming many obstacles – some self-imposed, others not – to become a loving father, husband and friend.

Richard loved the outdoors and spent both his personal and professional time there. He was a manager with Navigator Property Management. Richard enjoyed fast cars, guns, hiking and most importantly, spending time with his daughter, Abagail. Richard was a giver and his last act of giving was as an organ donor, so that others could live, and he could watch from Heaven.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 4th, 2018 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Brothers Darrell Kennedy and Bobby Rosson presiding. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Charlie Axsom, Jeff Hyland, Jonathan Mitchell, Jason Gross, Brian Sproles and Gary Lax.

Honorary Pallbearers are employees of Navigator Property Management, employees of Community First Trust, Darrell and Danell Kennedy, Bobby Rosson, Aaron Watson, Chris Vermillion and Rick Davis.

A special thanks to all medical personnel and law enforcement officers who tried valiantly to save Richard’s life after his accident.
