Obituary for Paul R. Bosson

Paul R. Bosson went to his final home on February 19, 2018. He was born in Hot Springs, Ar on June 16, 1935. His parents were Lottie & Roy Bosson. He attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Hot Springs High School.

Paul entered the U of A at Fayetteville in 1953 and was a member of the SAE fraternity. He worked for his Uncle Tom Bosson at Bosson & Delaney Service Station and completed his college degree by commuting to Henderson State University. He received his BSE degree in May of 1959.

After graduation, Paul moved to Mobile, AL and was employed by the Dept. of Defense until entering the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1969 as a Captain in the Field Artillery. He was employed by Texaco, Inc. and awarded “Salesman of the Year” in 1960 for the New Orleans Division.

Paul returned to Hot Springs with his wife Marie and children, Michele and Richard Bosson and was employed at The Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center during the day and commuted to U of A Law School at Little Rock at night. He also obtained a private pilot license with an instrument rating.

Paul received his J.D. Degree from U of A at Little Rock and was admitted to the Arkansas Bar Association on March 30, 1973. He was admitted to the Federal Bar Association and practice in the U.S. Supreme Court in 1976.

His legal career included private practice with Bill Green and then later he was a partner Hobbs, Longinotti & Bosson. He was appointed as Juvenile Judge and served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, and later Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. In 1988, he was elected as the first full-time Prosecuting Attorney in this district. He also served as Special Prosecutor in several judicial districts throughout the state. In 1990, with the help and assistance of Local and State Law Enforcement Departments, Bosson formed the 18th Judicial District-East Drug Task Force and was Project Director until his retirement. He also established the first computerized hot check program. He served as Prosecuting Attorney until his retirement in 2000.

Paul was a graduate of the National District Attorney Career College, past President of the National District Attorneys Association, served on the board of Area Agency on Aging, served for over 25 years on the board of Abilities Unlimited, served on the board of the Arkansas Crime Information Center and was appointed by Governor Huckabee to the board of the State Crime Laboratory. He also taught Constitutional Law at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pocahontas.

Paul was predeceased by his grandparents Lee and Katherine Richardson, Uncle Tom Bosson, mother Lottie Lee Bosson, father Roy Lee Bosson, and son Richard T. Bosson.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Bosson and his daughters Michele Montgomery (Bobby Montgomery) of Hot Springs and Kimberly Franklin (Caleb Franklin) of Sterlington, LA, one grandson, Barrett Franklin, daughter-in-law Julie Bosson, sister Gail Baum (Cal) of Hot Springs, brother Eddie (Lisa) of Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Donna Brooks of Hot Springs; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul worked hard but anyone who knew Paul also knew he loved to have fun and enjoy life, especially on Lake Ouachita with family and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church with a celebration of Paul’s life immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bill Elser and Father Y.C. officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. John’s Catholic School or St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Pallbearers are Jason Lawerance, Alan Pendleton, Tony Logan, Bobby Montgomery, Mike Gregor, Larry Sanders, Cindy Hunt and Michele Montgomery.

Honorary Pallbearers include Bill Watkins, Tom Ross, George Meggers, John Horner, Norman Suzuki, Phillip Dugan, Aggie Basile, Vhonda Davidson, staff of Hospice Home Care, and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and judges.
