Obituary for Paul Dee Reed

Paul Dee Reed went home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2018. He was born August 11, 1932 in Story, AR to Monroe and Nellie (Southard) Reed.

On March 9, 1952 Paul married Reva Dale Johnson, the daughter of Arthur and Inez Johnson of Red Ridge Arkansas. She was his help-mate, partner, and money manager for life. They went to the California log woods to make enough money to buy their first acreage in Arkansas. They moved back and raised cattle, chickens, and hogs for decades. She preceded him to heaven in October 2013.

He is survived by his only child, Paulette Reed, her husband Chip Fenner, and 4 step children: Krista Trotman and her husband Paul, Andrew Fenner and his wife Devon, Jill Harrelson, and Jay Harrelson and his wife Erin. He had two great grandchildren: Gerald Trotman of Santa Fe New Mexico and Kyla Belle Harrelson of Jacksonville FL.
As one of the 8 children of Monroe and Nellie Reed, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children along with his deceased brother Harrison’s wife Melba Reed. He loved family and loved family celebrations.
His twin sister Erma Lee Housley left this world 38 years ago, leaving him to think up mischief by himself.

Paul was a Deacon of Muddy Creek Church of God and a contributing member of Prairie Grove Church of God in Red Haw (Fannie).

He was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease at the age of 55 and went on dialysis at 58. For the last 30 years he has traveled to Hot Springs to the Nat’l Park Dialysis Center three days per week and made many friends there. He experienced excellent care from Dr. Robert McCrary and his staff.
For almost 5 years, he has required 24/7 care. He has been blessed with caregivers who were very respectful and who came to love him dearly. Special mention should be made of those who helped keep him in his family home: Brenda Lewis, Katie Blessing, Sissi Geurin, Ray Belk, Kandis Sandlin, Katelyn Cody, and Kelsey Wallace.

Throughout his life his faith sustained him. He loved his church, hard work, and a good hunting dog. He had a calm resolve to keep on keeping on no matter the odds. He had many illnesses but they were not what defined him. His faith and efforts to be a godly man were.
