Obituary for Patty Jo (Lucas) Summers

Patty Jo (Lucas) Summers, (58) left her earthly home, in Hot Springs, Garland, Arkansas, after a short battle with cancer. She fought the ‘tough fight’ with a courage that few people possess, which was also, reflected in the manner in which she lived her life.

She was born Patty Jo Lucas, on April 21, 1959, on Patuxent River Navy Base, in Lexington Park, Maryland, to William Clarence Lucas, Jr. who was serving in the United States Navy and Joyce Ann (Trimmer) Lucas. She departed this life, with all of her loved ones around her on August 16, 2017, at National Park Medical Center, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Patty was the eldest of three children born to her parents and was educated in Sicily, Virginia and Texas. She met Raymond Eugene Cobren in Beeville, Texas and being the strong willed young girl, she was, they married at a very young age in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. One child, Alice Marie Cobren was born of this union. The majority of this marriage was spent in Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, where they later divorced.

Attempting to make a good home for Alice and herself, she later married John Ridders, in Alberta, Calgary, Canada and the three of them lived there for approximately five years. During this period of time she was employed in Banking, as a teller and loved her employment there.

Their little family moved from Canada to Edmond, Oklahoma, where she tried her hardest to make a happy home for all of them. But feeling she had been married most of her life by this time, she was extremely curious to venture out to see ‘if there was life outside of her marriage.’

She made one final move to Hot Springs, Arkansas, which she was proud to call her ‘home’ for the last twenty six years. She worked at Rhythm’s Club, French Cottage Retaurant, Patty’s Steakhouse, Liquor Mart, Flavor Vapor Vape Shop and The Corner Bar, where she met many great friends and a couple more husbands, Ron Stevens, Mick Winter and Rod Summers. She was a great cook and loved to invite friends over for a ‘cookout’ and a ‘cool one’. She was always willing to help anyone who needed a helping hand and was willing to go ‘the extra mile’ for those whom she tried to help.

Patty was preceded in death by her younger brothers, William Clarence Lucas, III and Robert Wayne Lucas; both her paternal and maternal grand-parents. She leaves to mourn her death, her parents, William Clarence Lucas, Jr. and Carol (Seaver) Lucas, of Cottonwood, AZ; Joyce Ann (Trimmer) Lucas-Stravlo and Jim Stravlo, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her daughter, Alice (Cobren) Sconyers and David Stapleton; grandchildren, Alyssa Marie (Cobren) Sconyers and Brad Murray; Tyler Daniel Sconyers; great-Grandchildren, Aiden Horowitz; and Elijah Murray, all of Hot Springs, Arkansas; niece, Jessica Lucas, of Indianapolis, IN.; and last but not least, Chris Lee, her very good friend, who has been by her side through thick and thin during the illness which claimed her life.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at the Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel, 155 Section Line Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71913; with interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, in Oklahoma City, OK.
