Obituary for Mary Jo Johnson-Campo

Mary Jo Johnson-Campo was born on September 6, 1936 and passed away on May 11, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her parents; H. Loyd (Jack) and Ida Mae McNeil- Johnson, sisters; Peggy Wheeler, Edna Mae Wilson, brothers; George Wayne, Robert Loyd and Carl Eugene.
Mary was a dedicated wife and mother of four.

She is survived by her brother Richard Dean Johnson, her children; Dr. Patricia and her husband John Nation, Mary Jean Campo, John Loyd Campo, Linda Gail and her husband Scott Gillham.

Grandchildren; Jennifer Diane Nation and her husband Air Force Major Giovanni Bondi, John Patrick Nation, Ashley McDade and Jaxon Gillham.

Mary was a graduate of Mountain Pine High School, Class of 1955, and was in the first Mountain Pine High School Cheerleading Squad. She was awarded the Hot Springs Saint Joseph Hospital Nursing Scholarship. During the Vietnam War, she worked at a missile factory in which she found an error in product measurement that kept a large shipment of malfunctioning missiles from being shipped, saving American soldiers. Mary was a dedicated worker of Saint Joseph Hospital and National Park Medical Center. She led a life of charity, love for others and compassion. She never met a stranger.

Visitation will be at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home on Monday, May 15th at 10:00 am.

Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Gillham, Jaxon Gillham, John Nation, John Patrick Nation, Gary Hampton and Brent Scott.
