Obituary for Marise Morton Paladino

Marise Morton Paladino, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.

Marise was born March 2, 1922 and was raised in Heber Springs. She celebrated her 95th birthday earlier this year. Married to Rockie Paladino, they had treasured 66 years of a loving and devoted marriage at the time of his death in 2008. Together they raised three daughters, Mary Joyce Davis (Paul) of Cabot, Emily Bost (Dr. James) of Fayetteville, and Suzanne Burton (Dr. James) of Hot Springs.

Marise retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. Credit Department following 33 years of employment. After her retirement she and Rockie traveled extensively across the United States and Europe.

Her church family was an important constant in her life. As an active member of Baring Cross Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 53 years she was very involved in Women’s Missions. She was a member of the state’s first ukulele band. The band traveled and performed for nursing homes and retirement homes and they even appeared on Nashville Now. She was also a lifetime member of the Little Rock Salvation Army Auxiliary. In 2002 Marise and Rockie chose to move to Hot Springs on Lake Hamilton. She quickly became an active member of First Baptist Church. As a member of PEO Chapter AP in Hot Springs, she enjoyed the social and service aspect of this organization.

Predeceased by her parents and siblings, she is survived by her three daughters, her grandchildren Keith Crowder (Kelly) of Cabot, Cathy Hawkins (Mark) of Sarasota FL, Jon LaFollette of Eugene, OR, Jan Paladino of Greensboro, NC, Brian Patrick (Courtney) of Pleasant Hill, CA, Mark Patrick (Carrie) of Waldron, AR and eight great-grandchildren. Marise is also survived by a half-sister Virginia Claxton of Little Rock; sisters-in-law Mary Sprick (Charles) of Glenwood Springs, CO and Louise Paladino of Conway; brother-in-law Peter Paladino (Dorothea) of Malvern; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hot Springs at 2:00 pm Monday following a private burial. Rev. John McCallum will preside.

Pallbearers are Brian and Mark Patrick, Scott and Brian Burton, Keith Crowder and Jon LaFollette. Honorary pallbearers are Jo McBride and the members of the Bible Learners Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, her precious caregivers and her caregivers from Kindred Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 2350 Central Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
