Obituary for Margaret Louise Dauber

Margaret Louise McPherran Dauber, age 98, of Hot Springs went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 19, 2017. She was born on April 5, 1919 in Akron, Ohio to the late Ira and Bertha (Krepps) McPherran. Other than her parents Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Dauber, Jr.; sons, Harvey and Ted Dauber; and a brother, Malcolm McPherran.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Rose Mary Dauber; grandchildren, Melinda Williams (Keith), Stephen Dauber (Vicki), Darren Dauber (Tamara) and Robert Dauber; great-grandchildren, Carrie Piceynski, and Rayce (Kayla), Tyler, Ison, and RhiAnne Dauber; great-great grandson, Isaiah Speakar; sisters, Catherine Appleby and Laura Taylor; brother, James McPherran; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret started her journey on this earth in 1919. On November 18, 1938 she married the love of her life, Howard Dauber, Jr. and in a short time they decided to start a family. They were blessed with two boys and named them Harvey and Ted. Howard worked for Akron Public Schools and when he retired in 1965 they moved to Florida.

Margaret worked at Montgomery Ward in women’s fashions and retired from the store in 1981. In 1975, their son Harvey moved with his family to Arkansas. Margaret and Howard left Florida in 1994 and moved to Arkansas to be near Harvey’s family. Howard died in 2002 after 64 years of marriage and Margaret lived in their home until August of 2016. She moved to Garrett Woods Independent Living and was there until her sudden death.

Margaret was a lifelong committed follower of Jesus Christ. Bible reading and praying were her daily habits. She would always tell everyone that she met to “have a Jesus day” and wrote “Jesus loves you” on every check that she wrote. Music was her passion and she led church choirs, singing groups, children’s ministries and a nursing home ministry. She played piano, crocheted, loved family games, and flowers. Also, she enjoyed watching golf and the Arkansas Razorbacks. In her younger years, Margaret enjoyed going roller skating. Margaret’s appearance was always immaculate and she wore high heeled shoes to the end.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a Celebration of Margaret’s life to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Stephen Dauber officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Dauber, Darren Dauber, Robert Dauber, Keith Williams, Ruthie Sims, and all her friends at Garrett Woods Independent Living and the members of First Assembly of God in Hot Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Garland County Animal Welfare Association in appreciation for them finding a new home for Snooky.
