Obituary for Lillie Sue "MiMi Sue" Morrissey

Lillie Sue Morrissey, “MiMi Sue”, 73, of Hot Springs, passed away August 22, 2017 peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born January 5, 1944, to Arthur Clayton and Edith Harris. Sue attended high school at the now Historic Hot Springs High School. After completion of high school, she began working as a teller at Arkansas Bank and Trust.

After her children grew older, she took a position with Garland County Community College in the purchasing department. As her knowledge and work skills grew, Sue eventually took a position in the Human Resources Department at Reynolds Metals. Upon the plant’s closure, she took a position with Stratcor as the Director of Human Resources until that plant’s closure.

Sue then began a new chapter in her career, working in the legal department at Weyerhaeuser. She began there as a temporary employee and this turned into a full time job providing legal support for three attorneys. Sue remained there until her retirement. During her time at Weyerhaeuser, she was actively involved in the Garland County Chapter of the Legal Support Secretaries where she remained active after her retirement.

Sue enjoyed cooking, singing alto in the church choir, and was a Bible scholar, who could quote scripture with genuine knowledge. MiMi Sue was very family oriented and spent most of her days surrounded by children and grandchildren. She was the confidante every family member leaned on for guidance and non-judgmental support.

Sue is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jim Morrissey; brothers, Don Harris and wife, Sarah, Randy Harris and wife, Jody; sister, Jolene Fleming; son, John David Stone, Jr. and wife, Tina; daughters, Jamie Stanfill and husband, Rick, Joey Wuichet and husband, Garland, Jennifer Smith, Linda Peterson and husband, Brett of Highland, Utah; son, David Morrissey and wife Robin of Colorado, Travis Morrissey and wife, Harmony; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandsons, who were all born in 2016; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in honor of Sue Morrissey.
