Obituary for Lenora Mae Frost

Life is a journey and Lenora Mae Frost began her journey in Amity, Arkansas January 11, 1932 with her birth to James Steve Thornton, and Bertha Mae Horn Thornton. Lenora ended her earthly journey when she was checked out of Village Springs Health and Rehab on December 24, by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents; husband, Buford Frost; brother, Kenneth Thornton; sister, Mary Nell Thornton Burchfield; step-mothers, Gertie A. Richardson Thornton and Effie Pounds Thornton; special aunt; Chloe Thornton Johnson; and a host of friends from Mt. Valley Baptist Church, Park Place Baptist Church, and Jessieville Baptist Church.

She was a Baptist who believed that Bible Study, Prayer, tithing, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Church attendance were essential in striving to live a Christ-like life. In life, she was a flawed sinner but through death she has been elevated to perfection through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Lenora was a wife, mother, housewife, and Grannie. She worked at K-Mart and Wal-Mart until Buford was disabled with a stroke, then she became his caregiver. She loved to garden, canning vegetables from her garden, crochet, and in the ‘50s and ‘60s it was common to see quilting frames hanging from ceiling in the living room. As with most of her generation, her life was hard and simple. Hard work was embraced and morality was scripture based, so the changes she witnessed over her lifetime was concerning. But nevertheless, she still loved life and the people in it.

Survivors include her three sons: Steven (Karen) Frost of Hot Springs, Gary (Marsha) Frost of Hot Springs, and Mike (Debbie) Frost of Little Rock; six grandchildren: Jason, Jeremy, Amy, Rebecca, Lauren, and Dylan; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Frost) Hudson of Waldron, Floy Mae Thornton of Glenwood, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Jessieville First Baptist Church with services following at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Derek Combs officiating. Burial will be in the Parks Community Cemetery at 2:00.

Pallbearers will include Jason Frost, Jeremy Frost, Chuck Ragsdale, Mark Mayall, and her sons.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Village Springs Health and Rehabilitation, and Dierksen Hospice.

Memorials may be made to the Parks Cemetery Fund.
