Obituary for Jim Darren Messenger

Jim Darren Messenger, 53, of Hot Springs, passed away May 14, 2018. He was born March 1, 1965 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Sue Messenger.

In his early years, Jim was in the Army and later joined the Air Force. He graduated from OSU, becoming a senior master diesel technician. Due to health, Jim had to retire his passion of fixing trucks. His passion was to help people, so he pursued a career in the medical field and was attending NPC, finishing with a 4.0 GPA. Jim got accepted to begin the UALR Nursing program in late May.

Jim was a member of Creekside Church. He was very passionate about running, hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim enjoyed watching and helping people succeed in their life. He was a God-fearing man.

Jim is preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother; wife Pamela Messenger; sons Chad Garr (Holly), Brandon Garr, and Dalton Messenger; daughters Brittany Ballard (Brandon) and Melissa Messenger; grandchildren Rylan and Barrett Garr and Hazel Ballard.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a celebration of Jim’s life beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Maybrey officiating.

Pallbearers include Dalton Messenger, Chad Garr, Brandon Garr, Brandon Ballard, Blake Hegwood, and Timothy Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
