Obituary for James R. Brasher

James R. Brasher, 85, of Pearcy, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2017. He was born January 5, 1932 in Norman, Arkansas to Martin and Beatrice (Paxton) Brasher. James retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.

James was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchild, Kingsley Shipp; brother, Floyd Brasher; and sister, Mozelle James.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Brasher; son, Jimmy Brasher; daughter, Paula Sheets (Teno), Carla Vaughn, Robin McCulloch (Troy); brother-in-law, Harry Rowland; sisters, Faynell Orrell, Virginia Whitfield; grandchildren, Shannon Rowland, Jennifer Walden, Tara Rushing, Randy Shipp; great-grandchildren, Lauren Rowland, Kara Rowland, T.J. Walden, Ty Walden, Mattie Walden, Emily Rushing, and Ethan Rushing.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebration of James’ life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Carter officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Royal.

Pallbearers include Johnny Whitfield, Troy McCulloch, Teno Sheets, Jason Walden, Shannon Rowland, and Eric Rushing.

Honorary pallbearers are the Men of Antioch Baptist Church and Mike and Dilly Severns.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Staff and Doctors of DaVita Dialysis and Kindred Healthcare.
