Obituary for James "Jim" Leon Shaffstall

James (Jim) Leon Shaffstall, 81, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born November 27, 1935 to the late Everell and Jeannette (Marshall) Shaffstall. Jim grew up in Lincoln, KS, graduating from Lincoln High School, attended Fort Hays College and Kansas State University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Village United Methodist Church, Hot Springs Village Shrine Club, the American Legion and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He worked for GMAC for 32 years, retiring as a control manager in Chicago, IL.

Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly; son; Kevin (Teresa) of Lee’s Summit, MO, daughter; Shelly Moore of Andover, KS, step-son; Joe Hodges (Becky) of Omaha, NE, step-daughter; Stacy Chamberlain (T.D.) of Lawrence, KS; brother; Robert Shaffstall (Judy) of Tyler, TX, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Although Jim loved fishing, hunting and playing golf, his passion was working with the Hot Springs Shrine Club, benefiting the Shrine Hospital for Children in Shreveport, LA.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Village United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Hemund officiating.
