Grace Ann Kuntz-Whaley, 87, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017. She was born July 1, 1929 in Hot Springs to Ross and Jessie Maddox. Grace taught piano lessons in her studio in the Lake Hamilton School District for 18 years and in her private studio in her home. She was active in the National Guild of Piano Teachers since 1958, serving as chairman for over 30 years. She was in the Guild’s “Hall of Fame”, as well as a member of the American College of Musicians. Grace was also Music Director of Piney Grove UMC in Hot Springs for 50 plus years.
She is predeceased by her parents, first husband of 35 years, James F. Kuntz, dear friend of 21 years, John Kress and second husband of 6 years, Earl Whaley.
Loving survivors include son, James “Jim” Kuntz, Jr. (Joy)of Little Rock; son, Terry E. Kuntz (Sharon), of Hot Springs; sister, Katherine Frazier, of Pittsburg, TX; sister, Dorothy Johnson (Don), of Hot Springs; sister, Marguerite Puckett, of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Jennifer Monk (Pledger), of Little Rock; Lori Walsh (Dave) of Little Rock; Robyn Campbell (Ian) of Arkadelphia; Maria Crone (Jake), of Hot Springs; Damon Kuntz (Michale), of Murfreesboro; James Kuntz III (Jenn), of Meredith , New Hampshire and17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2107 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Gallimore and Pastor Larry Ferguson officiating. Private burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Damon Kuntz, Jake Crone, Pledger Monk, Dave Walsh; and great-grandsons, Brandon Monk and Reed Walsh. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of her former choirs, members of her Rainbow Sunday School Class, all former piano students, Dr. Timothy Webb, caregivers, Barbara Arnaud, Christina, Nathan and Diane Diggs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the American Cancer Society or to Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
The family will be at The Maddox Place.
