Obituary for George Allen Adamson

George Allen Adamson passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 leaving behind his wife Mary Jo Adamson, two children, and one grandchild. After growing up in Pittsburgh, George met Mary Jo at Gannon University in Erie, PA and they were married shortly after her graduation in 1979. George and Mary Jo were an inseparable unit for 37 years. George’s career in accounting, primarily for the oil and gas industry, lead to many relocation opportunities including over 20 years in Houston and stints in St. Croix, Aruba, New Jersey, and South Carolina. Their 16th and final move was made in April 2015 to their retirement home in Hot Springs Village, AR, a tight-knit community where they made many close friends, both on and off the tennis courts.

George is survived by his mother Loretta Hanek and brother Fred Hanek, his two children, son Jonathan Adamson and daughter Sara Tomashitis, his son-in-law Beau Tomashitis, and his granddaughter Margot Tomashitis.

George was an animal lover known for feeding the local wildlife wherever he lived. He befriended everyone at the nearest Starbucks coffee shop and could drink a triple venti latte at bedtime. He ran his first marathon at 53 years old and could be found riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle on the weekends.

In 2009, George found a love for cycling when he participated in his first MS150 bike ride between Houston and Austin. He would go on to ride in many other events raising thousands of dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and getting the whole family into cycling at one time or another.

In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society:
