Obituary for Eva Mae Harper

Eva Mae Harper, 80, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away November 11, 2017. She was born March 16, 1937, in Rock Springs, Arkansas, to Joe and Sarah Ethel (Merriott) Johnson. Eva was a caregiver to family and friends and represented the very heart of her family. She was a member of Bates Community Church and loved singing in the choir. Eva enjoyed sewing, coupon shopping, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was known by her family as the best cook, and everyone enjoyed her famous homemade pies, especially her coconut cream pie.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; three brothers; two sisters; and a daughter-in-law.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Jim Harper; daughter, Jilanna Caldwell (John); son, Jim Harper; brother, Leo Johnson; grandchildren, Chad Cook (Brandi), Amanda Nahas (Phillip), Justin Harper, Bryan Harper, Kristen Harper; great-grandchildren, Madison Nahas, Kinsley Cook, Logan Nahas, Kaelin Cook; and sister-in-law, Kelva Johnson.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebration of Eva’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Harper and Bro. Al Harvey officiating.

Burial will follow at Rock Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Chad Cook, Phillip Nahas, Justin Harper, Bryan Harper, Kenneth Johnson, and Larry Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are Vernon Jr. and Connie Tedford, Adult Sunday School Class at Bates Community Church, and Romosha Bridges.
