Obituary for Eunice Cortez Bentley

Eunice Cortez Bentley, age 98, of Pearcy, Arkansas, went home to our Lord on February 4, 2018, with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bruce Bentley; parents, Will and Delia Black; one infant son; four brothers; and one sister.

Eunice loved gardening and all living things flourished under her care. A few of her favorite pastimes were sewing, quilting, and studying her Bible. Many of her skills benefited children’s homes, veterans, homeless shelters, preterm infants, and numerous other community needs.

Eunice’s fervent passion was her love for her Lord and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing His love to the world. The many trials and hardships in her life molded her into a strong and tenacious woman. She was never timid in sharing her beliefs and opinions and was thankful for God’s grace and mercy that transformed her faults and failures. Eunice was never happier than when she led someone to the Lord or supported them in their journey.

During her life she provided selfless care to many family members and friends in the last years of their lives. Her faith and belief in the power of prayer was manifested with miracles throughout her life and the lives she prayed for. God’s grace and mercy were so evident in her last days.

Eunice is survived by her son, Bill Burmaster; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Moshinskie; grandchildren, Shannon Loftis (Ed), Paul Burmaster, Laura Smith (Robert), Tammy White; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; her dearly loved sister-in-law, Betty Black; cousins, Alford Black (Pat), Buddy Black (LaVerne); and many other special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a celebration of Eunice’s life immediately following at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Teddy Frye officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Dietrich Morgan, Nicholas Horn, Ed Loftis, Warren Black, Charles Clay Black, and Charles Moshinskie.

Special thank you for the excellent and loving care of Kindred Hospice and Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab.
