Obituary for Earl Elmer Priestaf

Earl Elmer Priestaf, 85, of Hot Springs Village, passed away August 19, 2018. He was born September 22, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Henry and Marie (Gumbert) Priestaf.
Survivors include wife Suzanne Priestaf; daughters Donell Unger (Doug) and Sherry Priestaf; and grandchildren, Kaley and Jacob Lawler.

Earl earned his B.S. Degree in Industrial Management after serving in the U.S. Air Force. While in service, he had the pleasure of participating in the World-Wide Air Force Fast Pitch Softball Tournament and the Air Force World Wide Bowling Tournament. After graduating from college, Earl worked for the GMC Truck Division of General Motors, retiring with 38 years of service. Earl enjoyed service club activities with the Sertoma Club, Men’s Village Garden Club, and was a 32nd degree Mason while in North Carolina. Earl was active with Christ of the Hills United Methodist Evangelism Committee.

In 2011, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma while being treated at Genesis Cancer Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and also the UAMS Cancer Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Earl, through the United Methodist Church was able to take the Walk to Emmaus which greatly enhanced his Christian belief in learning more about the Holy Trinity. Earl credits his meeting Suzanne as the work of the Lord and for that, he and Sue have enjoyed a wonderful married life together for the past 52 years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church.
