Obituary for Dorothy Byars Attebury Bauman

Dorothy Byars Attebury Bauman, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3rd, 2017. A native of Paris, Tennessee she has been a resident of Hot Springs Arkansas since 1960. Dorothy and her husband Charles were married for 65 years.

They had three children, seven granddaughters and 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great granddaughter. Dorothy and Charles shared a passion for farming, having dairy farms in both Kentucky and Arkansas during their lifetimes. Dorothy loved cooking for her family, gardening, sewing, woodworking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an Eastern Star and a member of Winans Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by husband Charles Attebury; husband George Bauman; infant son Charles Larry Attebury; daughter in law Brenda Mungle Attebury; granddaughter Julie Neal Hicks; parents Robert and Zeffie Byars; ten siblings.

She is survived by her son Jimmy (Sue) Attebury of Fountain Lake, daughters Peggy (Mike) Turbyfill of Hot Springs and Hue Anna (Michael) Bentley of St. Louis; and granddaughters Melissa Attebury, Angie (Kelly) Heaton, Tricia (Robb) Beal, Jennifer (Chad) Echols, Amber (Nathan) Hurst, Holly (David) Weldon and Heather (Anthony) Haan; Special extended family members: Jeff (Tiffani) Neal and Kevin (Tonya) Neal, Diane (Jerry) Wells, Troy (Mary) Wells, Andy (Stacey) Wells, Joel (Maryann) Bentley, Courtney (Stephen) McCauley, Melissa (Jason) Hudnell.

Her family would like to express appreciation to caretakers Sarah Berry, Elizabeth Zunika and Evelyn Zunika, the staff of Central Arkansas Hospice, and Dr. Scott Anderson. A special word of thanks to the following caring friends: JoAnn Abernathy, Ernie & MaryAnn Holland, Jimmy Geeo, Barbara Strashinski, Ruth Catlett, and Carolyn Shackleford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Winans Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Winans Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Thurman Abernathy, Reverend Mark Sikes and nephew Tom Evitts.
