Obituary for Doreen Faye Feeney

Doreen Faye Schull Feeney of Hot Springs, AR passed away August 28, 2017. She was born September 21, 1943 in Watertown, SD to Lester and Jo (Saathoff) Schull.

Doreen is a graduate of Watertown High School, Lindenwood College, St. Charles, MO, and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis, MO. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Registered Nurse Certification. She began her nursing career in Denver, CO where she met her future husband Doug. They moved to Watertown, S.D. where she continued nursing at Memorial Hospital. Doug and she raised their two sons at their home on Lake Kampeska. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and involved in community activities.

They moved to Steilacoom, WA where Doug operated a Sales Representative business. The family enjoyed their son’s soccer, tennis, golfing, and baseball activities, boating and experiencing the wonders of Puget Sound.

In 1996 Doug and Doreen moved to Hot Springs AR where they founded Prime-Line, Inc., a manufacturing company. They continued to enjoy the many activities and wonders of Lake Ouachita, Lake Hamilton and the surrounding Ozark Mountains. They loved to travel abroad and explore local sights. In particular, she loved her sons, the water, eagles, skinny lattes, and all things South Dakota as well as any of Wilson Pickett’s music – her favorite being “Shingaling” and “Mustang Sally”.

Doreen lovingly used her RN skills for 14 years as her husband’s Caregiver after he was struck with throat cancer and other complications.

Doreen was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease) in 2014 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.. She was a courageous woman fighting one of the most hopeless diseases on the planet.

Doreen was preceded in death by her father, husband and sister, Kathy.

Survivors include her mother, Johanna Schull of Watertown, sons, Mark (Monica) of Houston, Brian (Bristol) of Hot Springs, brother, Lee Schull (Janice) of Watertown, sister, Nancy Landes (Ed) of Tucson and grandchildren, Evan, Ryan and Raelyn, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD on September 11 at 10:30 am.
