Obituary for Denman W. Black

On January 2, 2018, the world lost a husband, father, grandfather, and great friend to all. Denman W. Black was reunited with his beloved wife, Kathryn, and son, Charles, after living 91 blessed years on this earth.

In his younger years, Denman served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Manila, Saipan and Leyte. He was presented the good conduct medal, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and one battle star. The world kept spinning until one day, when a beautiful girl came into Denman’s life. Kathryn changed Denman’s priorities rather quickly, but he didn’t seem to mind. They got married and started their wonderful family.

Kathryn and Denman were blessed with three children during their 68 years together. Ralph, Nancy, and Charles were blessed with wonderful loving parents.

During their childhood Denman worked for Arkla Gas Company transporting heavy equipment to jobsites and also had an extensive antique car collection. The whole family was able to enjoy the vehicles that Denman had collected over the years. They most enjoyed taking trips and joyrides through the countryside. Now Denman is driving Kathryn and Charles all around the streets of gold in Heaven.

Denman leaves behind his beloved daughter, Nancy Black May and her husband Sammy of Hot Springs, who made sure that he was taken care of to the very end of his life. He also leaves a son, Ralph Black of Waldo, Arkansas; grandchildren, Renee Barrett Ringgold and her husband John, Paul Matthew Barrett, Chad Black; great-grandchildren, Hayden Ringgold, Rhett Ringgold, and Allison Barrett.

At the family’s request, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice.
