Obituary for Clay Scott Nicholson

Clay Scott Nicholson, born March 7, 1967, in Greenville, Mississippi, entered the gates of Heaven on September 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Clara Nicholson, and one brother, Sam Nicholson.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Nicholson; sons, Chase Johnson, Bryce Nicholson; daughters, Summer Cortez (Eddie), Jordan Nicholson; granddaughters, Kyleigh, Zoey, Zaira, Maela; grandsons, Carson and Jace; brother, Eddie Baker (Debbie); sisters, Loretta Erwin (David), Linda Arendale (Hamp); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Scott was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was devoted to his family and a loyal friend. Sports played a major role in Scott’s life, from playing ball to coaching. Scott made the All-State basketball team while in high school and continued his love of the game by playing for The Brotherhood, the 35 and over league. Scott dedicated countless hours to coaching, training, and traveling with teams he coached, along with coaching several AAU teams.

Scott is now dancing with the angels. No more sorrow. No more pain. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Village Church of Christ with a celebration of Scott’s life immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. David Tappe officiating.
