Obituary for Charles Gerald "Jerry" Glidewell

C. Gerald (Jerry) Glidewell, born November 30, 1924 in Hot Springs, AR, to Fred and Amanda Glidewell. Jerry entered into Heaven Aug 5th, 2017. He valiantly served his country during WWII in the Philippines when drafted out of high school. He returned home January 1946 and 7 months later, married the woman of his dreams. Jerry & Judy celebrated 71 years of marriage 4 days before his passing.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy and his four children, Gary (Jan), Van (Caye), Carter (Bette) & Kim Leaton. Grandchildren are: Kerri (Ryan) Polke, Emily (Matt) Stevenson, Lindsey Hood, & Seth (Lacee) Glidewell. Great Grandchildren are: Libby & Ellee Hood, Kasen Polke & Kennedy Stevenson. He is also survived by: One brother, Billy Frank (Martha) Glidewell and one sister Margaret Mazander.

He is predeceased by a grandson Austin Leaton.

Jerry Retired from Reynolds Aluminum after 36 years of service. After growing up at First Pentecostal Church in Hot Springs and serving as deacon, Jerry & Judy joined Bismarck Pentecostal Church, where their son is Pastor. After retirement he started and owned Jerry’s Engines, a small engine repair business. Hobbies consisted of playing golf & watching the Razorbacks.

Pallbearers: Seth Glidewell, Ryan Polke, Matthew Stevenson, Greg Glidewell, Ray Whitten, David Carpenter, and Libby Hood.

Honorary Pallbearers: Wilbert Bates, Danna Stacks, Brad Cook, Jeff Garrett & members of Bismarck Pentecostal Church.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Services will be held at First Pentecostal Church, at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Jerry Garrett officiating.
